That is, indeed, a huge Japanese flag! Have you had the markings translated?
"Much that once was, is lost. For none now live who remember it."
no, that's why I wonder if any of you wonderful people could help me out!
Showa 14 Year, June 20th Birthday Commemoration
?.....Narita Goro [person's name]
The kanji in pink are just guesses, as they are too faint to clearly make out. The last questionable kanji is just too faded for me to even guess at. Were I a native-speaker of Japanese, I might be able to accurately guess the content. But I'm not; and I can't.
thank you so much for your reply and your effort and a rather good one!. So this flag was like a Birthday gift or something?.
AGAIN .... I do NOT know what those two fuzzy kanji are. Perhaps Nick Komiya will drop by and correct my errors.
ok, yeah it sounds unusual to me too if it was a birthday gift. Thanks again for your help Mr.!
Sorry was asking about the corners covered by the rocks, but see from the other pic's that the corners have been torn off
im not sure what happened to the corners
Guy has read all the Kanji correctly. Narita was the man who presented the flag.
