Article about: Miyazaki, Assistant/Probationary Engineer/Carpenter This was tough, so my wife helped. What I thought was a hugh single old-style kanji for "Toyo" [Toyozaki] infact was three kanji

Hi guys, have this one for you to check out. I have not encountered a blue cover, so have to ask. Looks good to my eye, but need second opinions.

    Hi Visor-san,

Not sure if it's for IJN, but with a compass on top is very interesting.

    Also the strap seems undamaged.

The cap stamped new designed approved by Japan Government.

    Cheers!

This one is new to me. Have found another one without the compass. Also listed as IJN.

This one has a chain for the cap, so maybe the first one is a replacement?

Any chance of having a close up shot of the top lid of the 2nd example?

    Thank you and regards,

These are the best photos available Taka-San. Could these have been for a civil service? It resembles one of my officer canteens in construction, except the colour.

I am not sure which cap would be correct, i have seen the chained and unchained versions. If the compass cap is a replacement, it is a good replacement, rare to find in its own.

Can you read the kanji on the second cap, I know it is a little blurry.

I will keep researching, anyone with any info please feel free to post.

very interesting! Would love to see how this plays out. Never seen anything like this either. Could the compass have been added?

The cap would be a new design and approved by the government.

    So I think, that's a originally installed.

I think there is a chance the compass has been added. No chain is present, like in second example.
On the other hand, the officers canteen I posted lacks a chain as well. Looks like either one is good.

    The only navy related canteens I have seen are the following;

By the way, have no idea why my posted pics are sideways......so please forgive me if you get a neck ache.
