    Hello all,

I'm fairly new to the collecting scene, and this is my first official post on this subforum, so please, excuse my ignorance.

I have a question to ask: did the IJN issue the Army-style mess tin to its troops? Or did they develop something else?

I have no idea where I should've posted this question, and if this is in the wrong place, I apologize in advance.

They had a variety of ways to serve their food. Onboard ships or submarines it wasn't uncommon to just use regular dishes. If they needed to prepare food beforehand and have it ready they used the aforementioned aluminum bento boxes. On the ground when deployed at their barracks they had army style mess kits, larger metal containers and dishes as well. As for on missions it's not entirely clear, perhaps they just carried premade rations wrapped in bamboo.
