I've always wanted one of these Navy winter fur hats but have never seen one come up for sale until recently.
It is one of my favourite pieces of Japanese headgear.
I hope you like it!

Russ

Very nice pick up Russ.
The label looks like was written with a Sharpie.
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Hope Nick can sort this out:
機倉一号
Ki Kura ichi-gō
Machine Warehouse #1
Aircraft Hangar #1
I'm guessing that 機, ki, is shorthand for 飛行機 hikoki: aircraft
This is the part I don't understand ... I've lately seen a few flight caps with this kanji:
立申

Many thanks Guy!
Michael has me worried now! But I thank him for bringing it to my attention.
I never really noticed the ‘blobs’ on the kanji on the issue label before.
If it turns out to be bad, it will be returned.

Russ
Sorry to bring it up Russ. I hope it turns out ok, but when you expand the photos you can see those extra dark areas that you often see when using a felt tipped marker. Typically at the beginning and end of a stroke where the tip touches the cloth just a fraction of a second longer (red circles). There also appears to be an second pass on the lower Kanji (Blue)
Hope I'm wrong.
Regards,
Michael

Michael, no apology required my friend!
I did not notice this before but it is now quite obvious to me that something is not quite right with this kanji.
Hopefully others will comment.
I don’t want it if it is not correct, so I would rather fellow collectors are honest in their appraisals rather than be suspicious but remain quiet so as not to offend.

Russ
Wait for Nick. I've seen sumi ink spread in blobs on paper before.

Thank you Guy!
I will wait patiently!
