That's a beauty! But how does one of these end up in Canada? Did Canadians see combat against the Japanese?
One goes on-line. Actually, there is very little Japanese militaria
in Canada that was brought back.........

As Steve said, there is, quite naturally, very little in the way of Canadian Veterans returning with Japanese bringbacks. As far as I know of, Canadian troops only engaged the Japanese on 2 occasions -during the invasion of Hong Kong and also in the Aleutian islands. www.canadiansoldiers.com is a very good source for material on the engagements.
Superb flag, by the way! I've always loved these autographed Japanese flags. Some of them-like this one-actually kept the signatures arranged in an almost artistic manner! These flags were once quite often seen, but the last decade or 2, they have been slowly disappearing from the markets and are now seldom encountered! I wish today that I had picked more of them up when I had the chances to, as 40 years ago or so they were usually quite reasonable in prices. Everyone wanted the Rising Suns, so these more Historic and Interesting flags were generally overlooked! "Coulda...woulda...shoulda...."

Nice pick up Steve, you seem to be hot on the money at the money.

LOL, Thanks Mo, William and Morris. I just decided it was time to pick up
a couple after my buddy said he has twelve ! - I've always liked them.
Comes a point where you either have to lay out some money or do
without, so I went for it. They're not cheap but not all that pricey
either - Like a WWII EKII price. I saw one on Ebay that came
with a period photo of the Vet holding the actual flag.........

Steve.
Very nice Steve!
Congrats!
I actually went for a plain one as it was for my sword display and I would only be showing half of it anyways.

I never get tired of seeing these beautiful flags, nice one
Thank you Ralph and Adam. I also have a couple of plain,
unmarked ones as well that I'll post when able. Not sure
of the age of these other ones though.........

Steve.
