in 1975 i spent about 9 months on okinawa ( camp courtny) i was not a collector at the time. i sent other junk home . i wish i knew then what i know now.

The katakana on he handkerchief appears to be guamu (Guam). Not particularly well-formed so either written by a very young child or a non-Japanese.

Apparently it was a local produced Guam souvenier that wound up on Okinawa.
