Japanese Army / Navy binocular or spotting scope......

Hi, i've recently inherited what i believe is part of a Japanese binocular set
or a spotting scope. The only markings i can find on this are what appears
to me a manufacturers mark "NIKKO" and some Japanese writing above and
25 x 2. Item is 19" long and 4" across front optic.

I would really appreciate any help or suggestions you may have on this item,
as to what period these may be from, Army or Navy etc.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to WRF.

What you have is a Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) Type 92 Angle Measurement Monocular (九二式望遠測角機鏡眼鏡).





They were use to measure the distance of the enemy by triangulation.

It's a rather scarce Japanese optic, great condition too!

Please take good care of it.

Here is the carrying case. (someone wrote the characters on the case)

To be honest, I don't know much about the price because not many examples are around or for sale.

It is very nice to have a inherited piece of history!
