Hi Pammy , good to see that you have continued your pursuit of an original Japanese Shin Gunto sword The first thing that strikes me from your photos is the natural patina that has occurred on the brass fittings ( the Tsuba or hand guard and Saya or scabbard hanger ring ) , this cannot be recreated on new metal and only comes with age , do you see the difference from the previous sword you showed ? The second thing i see is the quality of the ito ( silk tape ) wrapping to the Tsuka or handle , can you see the difference here also ? The tight wrapping and finish of these is notoriously difficult to achieve and could only be done by an expert , So i see very nice fittings here . The leather covered wooden Saya or scabbard is fine also and it is missing it`s Koiguchi or scabbard " throat " , this is not a problem and is often seen with these wooden saya`s ( i have one with it missing also ) and now onto the blade , it looks fine from the photos but they are very difficult to catch a good image . If you can i would like to see the tang and blade in one photo and also the very tip of the blade flat on and maybe in daylight without flash which may help
REGARDS AL
We are the Pilgrims , master, we shall go
Always a little further : it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow
Across that angry or that glimmering sea...
Thanks al,i will go get the pictures now wail i can..thanks again!
