It happened again! My family owns a recycling facility. Pople dump militaria all the time. This time, a customer saw a sign I made and donated a JAPANESE COMBAT HELMET to me!

He said his grandfather took it as a souvenir while fighting on Iwo Jima! He said he would come back with more information on his grandpa and his time in the service.

I'll be sure to post better pictures once I get home.

Thanks everyone, I really am very excited about this!

I hate to ask, as I would never sell it, but what do you all think this helmet is worth now considering the provenance?

Well considering its the best complete combat Japanese helmet ive seen, and the history associated with it, i would say here in England your looking at in the region of 1,000-1500

    Wow!

Now I feel nervous... I have it sitting on a helmet stand ontop of my dresser... I feel like it needs to be in a vacuum sealed chamber with a laser protection grid!

The gentleman who gave me the Japanese helmet let me borrow this framed medal grouping that belonged to his father-in-law. In my honest opinion, it only adds more proof that this lid is from Iwo Jima!
