Default Japanese dog tag unit 15208

    Dear all,

May I show you this Japanese dog tag I could get. Its seller was so kind to translate it for me: 15208 for the unit, 2208 for the member of the unit. He wrote that this unit was engaged in the Manchuria against the Russians in 1945. What do you think about the tag please, maybe someone has more information about the unit?

    With best wishes

Unit code 15208 stood for the 123rd Transport Regiment of the 123rd Division formed on 16th January 1945, along with 7 other divisions set up for the defense of Manchuria. They were deployed along the North East of Manchuria along the border with Russia. As the Russians crossed the Amur River on 11th August to launch their offensive against Japan, the 123rd held them off, though suffering heavily, in the vicinity of today's Heihe China until the war ended. See the pinned article above on dog tags. The article explains everything you need to know to decipher these tags yourself.
