    Right:
"To answer to and serve His Imperial Majesty"
    "Give this vote"
    Left:
"The pure election must come from the home"
Extreme left is probably the name, can someone else figure out that says?

I like this banner a lot Nuno , and especially it's construction . Is this going into your museum ?
    REGARDS AL

We are the Pilgrims , master, we shall go
Always a little further : it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow
Across that angry or that glimmering sea...

    Haru-san,

Far left is the name of a women's organization. I can't clearly make out the first two kanji, but they look something like chuu-choku [edit: or chuu-sugu?]; then followed by Fujin-Kai

    中直婦人会

[edit: 直 can also be pronounced "sugu" as in 直刃, suguha [straight temper on a sword]. I'm not even certain I'm identifying the first two kanji correctly.]

I don't think that second one is 直...

    Hello Haru san,

Hmmmmm, I was thinking of 眞 which is the older version of 真 ... but that does not explain the "bo" down the center.

    How about Nakadori????

    中通婦人会

    Nakadori Wives Association

    --Guy

Edit: I see the small り "ri" in the banner, just under 通

Fujin can mean wife or adult woman........ There are very many homophones in Japanese, which compounds the difficulty factor in learning it. For example:

    fujin 婦人= adult woman
    fujin 夫人= wife
    fujin 布陣 = battle formation
fujin 不仁 = heartlessness (仁 = compassion, 不= negation of)
fujin 不尽 = "I'll write again" in the closing of a letter
