Default Japanese flag with Japanese Writing Historical? Help

    Hi Gang,
Just wanted to say I posted a question about a Katana the other day and I learned more about Japanese swords In 6 hours than I had in A lifetime.
I started reading other posts and now I think I am A Junkie. I have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge of Japanese war relics. (now there finding me)

Need your help again with a flag I picked up.
I know nothing about flags or Japanese writing.

    Flag I think is silk
I defiantly think it is WW2 Vintage.
Has Japanese writing all over it, also has Characters drawn on it?
    Is this for real?
    Has condition issues!
Its been fixed as shown (sewn)
    Approx Size 33” X 26”

I feel like this flag may have historical significance?

If more photos needed please let me know

Please exam and let me know your thoughts!

    Thanks

    Bill

Looks good but I do not read Japanese kanji.
I am sure some of the other fellows can help with that friend.

A nice yosegaki hinomaru or prayer flag.

Though upside down, these kanji read Sapporo (the capital city of Hokkaido .... where my wife is from)

Apparently two of the signers included their city of origin. I see another along the bottom hem, near the 7 o'clock vicinity that says "Tokyo" (the flag was upside down when the writer signed this)

    東京
