found this at an estate sale. the flag is similar to the other posted as a thread. this also has a horse drawn on it. very cool flag. Don't know the translations on this. He had 2 of these. He served in the pacific during WW2.

You should turn it upside down for display, as the way you have it was not how it was intended to be read. Such silk flags are always a good sign that it is an authentic WW2 flag.
Silk is normally too luxurious as material for flags, but Japan had to keep its silk industry alive, which had lost all its export revenue, due to the war. So even webbed canteen straps were made from silk for a time. Of course this kind of outrageous waste ceased with the war ending and cotton became the standard for post war flags.
By the way, 1942 was the Year of the Horse.
