Japanese homemade fighting knife??

Article about: Hey guys,I don't really collect Japanese items, so I am completely out of my element here. I picked this knife up with an early war Jinsen type 30 bayonet. This knife looks homemade to me. G

    มาดี่
    Mā dī̀

    means "well/good."

    I don't think so -- but that is really hard to judge from just a photo. The wood handle and the scabbard look too new and too clean to me. Apparently this style is called E-nep and if you do a Google Image search, you'll find many similar knives of varying sizes.

    ..And not military IMO - Looks like a common commercial
    kitchen knife pressed into use as a 'utility' blade for carry
    in that home-made sheath. The one Guy shows is
    much more robust.........

    The style is very similar, however all the knives I find online are a Gurka(sp) style....good possibility that is Thai, but I believe it's old.
