Hi guys I picked up a grouping this weekend and it had these Japanese items in it. After looking on the internet I believe the one is an I.D. book . if you guys could tell me what its official name is I would be very grateful. Gary

The Evolution of the Japanese Army Passbook (1871-1945)
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

From 1871 to 1924, he was 53 years old. Why would he enter the military service at this age? A specialist?
So I dug a little deeper. His birthday was Meiji 44th year.
Guys thank you you guys are the best. It's nice to put a name to an item . I've just been reading Nick's post about the pass books at this day and age I couldn't imagine how the youth of today will look upon this book. Gary
Before his military service, he was peacefully working for a Soya Sauce company, but in contrast, his military service placed him at the cruelest places like in the midst of the Nanking massacre and landing in Iwo Jima in March 1944 at the end of his service record.
So would That make it 1912
Nick thank you for looking I don't know what to say . this guy just didn't get a break . The pass book came in a grouping from the 5th marines so I think I can figure out where he got it. Thank you again . Gary
His unit was the 61st Fortress Infantry Unit, from Tokyo to Iwo. An excellent techou showing the make up of the units that were to garrison the island--young men they were not. Postcard has IJN postal code for Iwo and IJA unit code, but I can't make out the entire unit number. Nice!
