It's nothing personal but as you see above when you ask for the opinions of those well versed in a subject without mentioning that you (or your fellow collector) have already asked elsewhere it does kind of irritate those who are taking time to assist.QED.

That taken together with the very low post average over a fairly long membership and the fact that they appear to have been deleted anyway (I can't explain that either) made this appear rather like one of those "dip in when you want something then continue not to contribute" kind of posts in the "what's this worth" category.

You could easily avoid that impression with a clear introduction to your thread but quite how to avoid the "2nd choice of forum" idea I am not sure.
I belong to other fora on which I only infrequently post but if I want to ask a question I make that clear so that people don't feel taken for granted.

So, if the cap fits etc!

Snide? No I don't do snide. I speak straight and say what I think. I will also put my hands up and admit when I am in the wrong.

    Best wishes

Well, I guess that is the point - I did not know it had been posted elsewhere.
I was purely trying to help a fellow collector.

My previous posts here on this specialised section of Japanese Militaria were going back to 2016.

    1) Shin Gunto on 09-05-2016
    2) IJN SNLF Helmet with cover on 12-25-2016

They have not been deleted - everything is there!!!

This is my forum of choice for Japanese items, due to the previous helpfulness and knowledge of the members here.

Did not realise not to get 'labelled' one of those "dip in when you want something then continue not to contribute" or to be placed in the "what's this worth" category type of guys that I had to post something on a regular basis.
My posts here have always been out of interest and to learn from you guys.

I suggest next time before you 'label' someone... you get your facts correct.

    Gent's.

I know Heer 17. He's a good guy and just trying to help out and was unaware of the other posting by someone else.

Let's focus our talents on the blade in question

Not wanting to harp on this, but wanted to state, without offending anyone here, that:

We should not judge people by the number of posts they have made.

I just noticed that in 8 yrs of being a member here, i have only made 142 posts.....only the few recent ones are visible, interpret that however you like, but i read lots of topics on things i don't know about, and only ask questions if i don't know, or want something clarified.

Some people have been here less than a year and have made more posts than me, does that make then better contributors??? Maybe for some, but generally speaking....i don't think so.

Personally I think clogging up threads with useless posts is pointless.
Now, re-reading and looking back, probably just like this one. Now i'm up to 143!! Yay!! It's good to see my stats improving...
Gotta go to the main page and see where else i can boost my total/average...
