    Hello! Happy New Year's everyone.

I'm looking for information regarding this Japanese pin:

It came in this wooden box, bearing the name of the Imperial Mint ( I'm told ) in Japan:

Also, there are characters on the back of the pin:

If anyone here would be so kind as to give me information on this or point me in the right direction, I'd be much obliged!

That's a private company "special award" medal for a "Staff member or Artificer". Not sure what company it is.

The company is Hitachi. The logo is a stylized sun 日 [hi] and the word "standing/position" 立 [tachi].

    日立

    Box Top:
    特稱章 社長
    Tokushou Shou / Shacho
[Special-Designation Award from the Company President]

    Badge reverse:
    工匠 - 副主副主事章
    社長

    Koushou - Fuku-Shuu
    Shachou

    Artisan/mechanic - Vice-presidental Award
    Company President

That's about the best I can do.

Hi and welcome to the Forum. It's taken quite a while, but thank you
to Haru and GHP95134 for the answer.

According to Wikipedia, Hi means 'sun', and Tachi means 'rise'.
    I'm guessing it's from the 60's or 70's.........

Below - the former company logo, seen also
    on the above badge:
