Hi Brian , these are very nice items , they are farewell banners and were used to congratulate and see off a soldier on his way to war ,

Ok, then they are authentic, and what would the value on them be?

Is there a big market for these ?

    Thanks for the response.

The market is certainly growing! The bigger the Banner, the more important the person who is saying the farewell is! If it has both flags, its normally for a group of people. If its just the Hinomaru (red sun disc) then its a personal one

So are the group ones more rare, or the single ones, and how would you figure the pricing on these.

There isnt alot of info online mate. My Personal one was direct from Japan & cost me about £70 last year. Its Silk, has the original hanging pole & it around 13 foot long

I would expect in a few years, these items to become better established in the market. Saying that, who knows!

so if i was able to get both of these for $ 75.00 total, that would be a good deal.

    Ah completely missed this one,

These are Greeting banners, when japanese soldiers arrived at a railway station returning home on leave they would be greeted by these flags/banners.

A poor example will go for about $35- 40. A good example with bright border will go for between $70- 95.
