Please could any one tell Me what the markings are on My friends rather neglected sword tang.He was given it with a mixture of other rust damaged things.He cant really complain as it was free!!!!!Attachment 731134

It looks like someone has committed the cardinal sin on Japanese blades and has cleaned the patina from the tang .

I agree. The quality of the picture for me makes the kanji unreadable. I can not tell if it is right side up or upside down. Hopefully, it is a factory blade so there is no harm to an art sword.

Have your friend shoot the kanji and the tang with the butt down and the top towards the point up. No sideways or upside down PLEASE! A clear focused shot of the kanji will also be required.
