    It looks like someone has committed the cardinal sin on Japanese blades and has cleaned the patina from the tang .

    I agree. The quality of the picture for me makes the kanji unreadable. I can not tell if it is right side up or upside down. Hopefully, it is a factory blade so there is no harm to an art sword.

    Attachment 731325Attachment 731326I will get Him to send more photos thanks Guys.In the mean time here is the other items including Victorian sword sticks,Kukri,bayonets,and sabre.Sadly the condition of them is enough to make a grown Man cry!!!

    Have your friend shoot the kanji and the tang with the butt down and the top towards the point up. No sideways or upside down PLEASE! A clear focused shot of the kanji will also be required.
