I found another type 99 rifle ammo tin with a silky erotic panel depicting 50 positions. Has anyone encountered a WW2 item like this before? A first for me.

It's the Japanese version of the Kama Sutra known as the Shijyu-Hatte "48 positions".

In Samurai days, girls stayed virgins until they married at 16 or so, at which time, their mothers would take them aside to show them woodblock prints like that, which shocked the hell out of those girls.

All masters of woodblock prints also made such educational (?) pornographic work (Shunga or Makurae) including Hokusai and even his daughter Oei.

The 48 positions, first came out as the "48 Sumo Wrestling Throws" in the Edo period. The porn version is a parody of that, so all the words used are Sumo wrestling terms. It actually says " 48 matches of Romantic Bouts".

Shown below is first the proper 48 wrestling throws followed by another version of the porn parody with names given to each position. These parody versions are not particularly rare and go for about $7 each in Japan.
