    Default Late war sword

I went to the Albany gun show today. As I walked into the entrance all I could see was a gentleman holding this sword. It was as if the light was shinning down on him and all I could see was this sword. After a short negotiation the sword now has a new home. I asked if he had any info on it and all he could say was yah its old and its from the war. I have not taken it apart "yet" but here are some photos. Gary

It is a 1944 model IJA officer's sword with machine made blade. You will not gain any great knowlege disqassembling it as it will have the name of the factory worker and will be dated either 1944 or 1945, The last one of these I had was left intact and never taken apart for the above reasons. It is unusual to find one of these with a leather field cover for the scabbard.

Thanks Ralph. Bob I don't think I will be taken the sword apart any time soon. I wish the leather cover was in better shape but it is what it is. Bob any clue as what the 5 on the tsuba is for. Thanks again guys for looking. Gary
