Mystery Japanese Army Collar Tab

Greetings all. Can anybody tell me something about this collar tab? It's obviously WWII Japanese Army, but the coloring throws me. I can't find anything like it in any of my books.

hi pat , i can see where your coming from with it being japanese . but for the colour ,it appears to be a rank /collar tab for a japanese sargent/gunso , i have read somewhere that rank and cloth items of uniform wore out fast in asia perhaps its a theatre made example . paul..
