Need help to identify this medal

Hi Belona, just writing because you hadn't got a response. I'm pretty darn sure this is a Chinese medal, and not just because of the dragon. I compared to Japanese characters and they don't match. I've found the quick and easy way to get things like this translated are to find a university or school that teaches any of the eastern languages and take it to them. A vast majority of these languages used some chinese characters.

Hello, it' not large only about 3cm, and I don't know enything about its origin.I just was told that it's some kind of medal

Not any type of Chinese medals I have seen so far. Probably a charm or something like that.

Japanese did use Chinese characters; it is called kanji. The style is old type and it can be difficult to identify sometimes.

This is a Japanese membership medal of a Kendo club. From right to left, the characters read "Kendo club(or department)". The member number is 2586 (also right to left) or 6852 maybe(left to right...). The medal is in the shape of a sword hand guard(Tsuba) and looks silver or silver plated.
