Here's the Golden kite medal that came with the citation and 7th class Order of the Rising Sun 7th class.

Referring to Guys comment about the buying power of the 1300 Yen reward in 1940, the amount back then could buy you 16 Nambu 14 pistols and change. The gun was costing 79 Yen in 1940. If you chose Type 95 swords instead, you could buy exactly 40 of them.

Each order had its own citation and what was posted here is like a summary citation that included the reward money. However, though most soldiers were rewarded money like this, no one ever actually got to touch any cash, as this money was given out in war bonds that were worthless at the end of the war.

The Golden Kite is very nice. You only need to find the lapel rosette to complete the set.
