    From a military point of view, Onoda-san fulfilled his duty as a soldier. It's almost impossible to imagine that he had survived for 30 years without knowing the war was over. I think it is very honorable that Onoda-san was able to relieved by his former commander, and able to return to Japan.

    An amazing individual , just goes to show how powerful in terms of discipline , and self survival the human brain can be !! RIP .
