Re your comment on spacing of the kanji on the flask, now think that the horizontal I thought was ichi in Yokaichi could be a six, in the sunlight am getting a diagonal stroke under it to the left.
On the base there is no sign of anything being removed, clear glaze with the label remnant cleared.

Maybe going down a rabbit hole regarding Yokaichi ..... but I did find that Toshiro Mifune trained there.

I wondered if that was Infantry, but the kanji looked a little off, though hand-written text (in any language), is always going to be subject to variation.
I struggle with Japanese and cannot really advance beyond numbers (the easy bit), I’m afraid!
