Ok, my last 4 cups, then I'm going back to gunto!

Cup 1 is different (to me) because there's nothing in the bowl - the writing is on the underside around the outside edge. Something in the base, and 9 kanji around the edge (I can make out "15" but that's it for me!)

Ha, sorry Guy, I just realized I had posted the kanji in reverse order!

Here are cups 2, 3, and 4 (the red one is wooden, not porcelain like the others):

    Many thanks, in advance!

Really cool Guy, thanks! Do you know what the banner flying from the tree stem says, and how about that symbol in the Sakura blossom? Does that mean something?

    Hi Bruce!

The symbol in Cup 3 is for Signals.
The banner in Cup 4 is what says "29th Infantry"

Havent posted any cups in a while so when i read about the Kamikaze headband article written by Nick today i thought that i should post a post war cup with some kind of relation to Kamikaze.

It is a reunion cup for 23 rd class of Kagoshima Air Group 1944. The cup is made by Inoue Manji who was attending this class. At the end of the war many pilots from this basic traning camps was sent out as Kamikaze pilots.

Inoue Manji wasnt sent out on any mission so he survived the war and picked up working with pottery. Today he has got the status as Living National Treasure in Japan.
