Tanto engraving translation

Hi, so I would love to know what my Japanese Tanto knife says on it's blades. Can anyone help?

I would like to see pictures of the entire blade to be able to judge it being a Japanese blade. The carving is not what I would expect to see on a Japanese blade. The meaning does not make any sense as kanji carved in to the ji of a blade usually has religious significance.

Bob, I think an education judgement has already been made. There is no way those characters should be on a Japanese blade; and if they are, they (1) are modern -- the "font" style is typically "Asahi News Font" or similar -- and (2) would ruin a genuine blade.

I agree with all you say. I was hoping for a complete image as an educational tool for the membership.
