Sadly, it is too degraded to read. I tried a few hours ago before the newer images; even with the darker images, I just can't read but a few kanji.

All I can make out in context is the major aphorism:
    祈武運長久
    Ki Bu'un Chōkyū
Prayers/Wishes for Continued Luck in the Fortunes of War

Hi, still great iconic items even in that condition. I bought one from Michael Bortner a year or so ago and keep promising myself another even though I am a Third Reich collector! Leon.

    Hi Gary-
It also appears that the flag may have a vertical "dedication" line on the right-hand side of the flag but it is very difficult to see completely.

Yes, I saw that and just didn't have the energy to go further.

    However ...

    中根藤夫君
    Nakane Fujio-kun
    Mr. Nakane Fujio
[kanji read: Naka-nay Fuji-o; but the name is said as "Na-kanay" when spoken] Nakane is the surname.

There appears to be two kanji above Nakane's name, but it is just too faint to read.
