    Hi All,
I could not resist adding this to my collection, it is a nice type 97 grenade with original string, paint and pin still intact, the damage is either from shrapnel or during the process of deactivation, not really sure but it adds even more charm in my opinion. what do you think? It has all the proper markings and a few along the top and bottom that I found with a macro lens, not sure if anyone can give a issue date from this but any help on translation would be appreciated. hope you enjoy the pics!! and thank you for looking.

Interesting damage but a nice looking piece! Every Japanese collection needs one of these!

Thanks guys, I was surprised how small it was and wonder what kind of damage or pop it would have.

Very interesting example! First one I've seen with a nice clear Tokyo 1st Army Arsenal star. The damage looks like it could have been caused by a spent bullet or something. Kinda surprising that it didn't set it off crushing the booster container like that.
I have one that must have been a dud because the primer is popped but the fuse train is still intact and the exhaust port is still sealed with solder. They normally deactivated these by removing the bang bang stuff and then burning out the fuse.
