Default Unknown Japanese Banner...Found in WWII Duffle bag

I bought a duffle bag at an estate sale the other day and this Japanese banner was in the bottom of it. The banner is made of silk and looks like the G.I. picked it up while in Japan during WWII, but I have never seen one and wondered if anyone could help me identify it? Thanks!

I believe these are typical 'Off To War' or 'send off' banners...........

These were called send-off banners or Shussei Nobori, the top 3 kanji say, congratulations on being called to active service, the rest of it would be his name and whoever sponsored him.

Thank you very much guys! I have very few Japanese pieces in my collection, but I will hang this with pride now. I don't even think they knew it was in the bottom of the bag when I bought it.

Thank you...the silk is starting to get holes in it where the green color is at the top. I don't know what causes this to happen or how to keep it from getting worse. Other than that it seems to be in pretty good shape.

    Wow, what a lucky find!

"Bottom of the bag/box/drawer" finds like this are great and add character. I bought an M1903 cartridge belt recently that a piece of bandage in one of the pockets with a very small blood stain.
