I got this from a family friend who bought this from a very old man. He gave it to me about 4 months ago and i have no clue if its real or fake.
Let me know if you need more pictures!
Hi, Rbemer. Better pictures would help. No flash, and outdoors......................
( Just in case it is 'real', wipe down the blade with some light oil to remove
any and all fingerprints and refrain from touching it with your bare hands.
Salty sweat from skin can rust up a blade in no time ! )
Regards,
Steve.
Sorry its on my computer any specific pictures?
There are some knowledgeable people here that can give you an immediate answer
and can also tell you how to look after it if it's a good one, but you'll need to
provide detailed close-up photos, preferably with a quality camera.
They may ask you for shots of certain things............
Regards,
Steve.
Ok i have no camera only on my computer so i may have to turn some lights off or turn the screen brightness down to keep it from reflecting
In order to give you a valid opinion, good focused pictures of the handle, fittings and blade are necessary. If you can remove the handle, a good picture of the sword tang will also help. That picture should be taken with the cutting edge at the top and the end of the tang at the bottom. The pin is tapered and unless it is swollen from getting wet, it can be driven out with a nail set and hammer. the Chinese are now making fakes of this form of shingunto.
