Default WW II Japanese Bayonet wood grip

My grandpa brought this bayonet home with him after serving in the south Pacific. I did a lot of research, and learned a lot based on the stamped markings. However, I can't find a picture or description of a wood grip like this one with no visible rivets or screws. Does anyone have any information? It's possible that it was a replacement grip, but I really don't know.

    Please and thank you.

I think that the pommel and cross guard have gotten a post war coat of paint and I think that the grips are replacements

Agree with the above and to add the grips should have screws holding it on. They might be glued on???
