    Could it be one of those offered to every NCO after the war ended, strange repainted color?? Doesnt look worth 500 to me. But the blade does!

    An original period Imperial Japanese Army officer's katana. The color of the paint on the scabbards has variation in both hue and texture. In most cases the scabbards are steel. However examples do exist of this form mounting with brown lacquered wood scabbards.

    PS: From the pictures, the blade appears to be a standard issue machine made blade.

    Unless there is severe rust or damage to the blade, the price is reasonable. Request better pictures of the blade along with any writing on the tang. If the writing is painted on, those are only factory assembly numbers.
