Help Nick @ Guy! Is this Japanese training rifle buttstock marked as 山崎 [Yamazaki]? The characters are stylized so I am a little uncertain about the second kanji character.
Hi,
Please, show the rifle in toto!
Thanks,
Luc
Luc, it is a post from 2016 and I am not sure if Torch purchased it or not. Also, I am skeptical about this being a training rifle in the sense that we use the word in the United States. The stock grip is too narrow in my opinion. Possibly it is a wooden dummy?
山崎
Yamazaki - a surname
Looks like solid wood fencing in shape of rifle
Mokuju I believe they are called
Yes,
木銃 mokujū
Wood rifle. Used for jūkendō "bayonet fencing."
According to Nakamura sensei -- who was also an army swordsmanship, dismounted bayonet, and jūken teacher during the war -- jūkendō requires 50% more energy than does kendō. He was also hanshi [master] 8th dan in jūkendō.
Mokujū butt:
The Self-Defense Forces also use a shorter mokujū during combat training.
But not during "sports" matches:
