    hi,

in my opinion it is not " I know it is a wwii japanese sword "

it could be possible that the sword was worn in ww2, but it is
    a private sword.

the sword looks very nice but i dont know weather it´s a fake or not.

the scabard looks like an "tachi", and the small knife was never on an ww2 sword.

    regards
    Auda

Possédant un sabre de l'armée japonaise, je peux vous dire qu'il n'est en rien comparable à celui-ci. Ce sabre possède selon moi beaucoup trop de "frioritures"
pour qu'il soit un sabre militaire.
    bien à vous.

hate to be the one to say this, but its not japanese, and not ww2. its a chinese knock off and not very old at all. you will not find serial numbers like that on a civilian or an officers sword, only on NCO swords, and it would be on the top side of the blade. these swords are all over ebay, and are just chemicaly aged junk.

Our man Andrew nailed it right on the head. Cheap Chinese junk fake. Value to collectors $0.00. The damascus ( can't think of a better word at the moment ) lines and temper line are acid etched.
Sorry you got hung with it.

This is a classic example of a poor attempt by the Chinese of faking a Japanese sword. The detail work on the fittings is very Chinese in design. Japanese swords and their mountings are understatement. The acid etch of the blade and gaudy fittings are tremendous examples of this overstatement used by the Chinese fakers. They attempt to make a flashy product to capture the untrained eye.
