Re: 44 cvl matched Dress 84/98 bayonet set?
This is not a dress bayonet - just the standard WW2 service version.
Either it has been plated or heavily polished post war.

Re: 44 cvl matched Dress 84/98 bayonet set?
soldier of fortune ,in the uk is still seling original 98 bayonets (but highly polished )
and most have repro etching on the blades ruind bayonets
i think there was a spate of polishing and etching in the 70s they made a complete mess of some loverly 98 bayonets
and most of the etching was so called ss units
at least this one wasnt etched and is still a good bayonet
cheers ian

Re: 44 cvl matched Dress 84/98 bayonet set?
Hi Kevin, Ian is correct. This has been plated post war. This was a popular practice with GI's in post war Germany. Chrome was fashionable back then.
Only buy this if that is the type of thing you are interested in.
But if you want an original untouched K98 bayonet, then this one is not for you.
Actually, it is possible to remove the plating.
Cheers, Ade.
