Hi Frank, nice bayo you got there, as far as the felt goes I have seen them in red, green and yellow, and learned they denote service assignment, thats all I know hopefully someone can tell you more if needed.

The felt usually denotes the arm of service. I believe Red is for Artillery

    Red: Wehrmacht and Flak formations
Green: Jäger and Airforce supervisory troops
    Yellow: Luftwaffe personnel
    Brown: Airforce communication troops

    Hello,

a nice dress bayonet (Extra-Seitengewehr) with matching frog (Extra-Seitengewehrtasche).

The color of the Felt has no connection to the troop... so red is not Artillery. The main personal join the army... the weapon-color of the army was whit... so the most Felts must be white....

no... the color was only a mater of the look... what the soldier like more.

A lot of use the read color because the combination of the black grips, the red felt and the "white" Metal are the colors of the German Reich - white - black - red -

    Regards
