All I can tell you Prussian 98/05 made in 1917 reissued to the Post war ww1 army and reblued 1920 stamp on crossguard complies with the treaty of versilles. Sleepwalker and Frogprience will come along and give the whole run down on it. timothy

The producer is Schleutermann from Remscheid...a fairly common maker...

    Hello,

a S98/05 produced from Schleutermann Remscheid in the WWI. Imperial acceptance and property stamps.

1920 stamped 1920 on the gross guard, as a sign of a legal weapon of the German army or police.

After 1932 blued and used by German authority's or the Wehrmacht.

Thanks for great info on this bayonet.

What does the "S" stamp on the front of the crossguard mean?

maybe Schleutermann... but more realistic is a internal sign of the factory...
