Default German Bayonet 44cof "y" block with Pesstoff (?sp) Frog?

Just got this one. Nice matching Bayonet and scabbard. Never seen a Presstoff (?sp) (paper) frog before. I think I have a similar belt around here somewhere. Never seen the K98 ammo pouches in Presstoff either. Do they exist? Is the frog hard to find? Anybody ever seen one with markings? No markings on this one I can find. Thoughts?

Just to help out a bit...it's "Press-stoff" meaning "Pressed Material"...I know that these Ersatzmaterial items aren't high on the desirable list due to the shoddy quality vis-a-vis leather equipment, but it's still a nice item that exemplifies late-war production constraints...
    cheers, Glenn

Nice to hear from a "homie" on a European web sight. Spelling is not my strong suite. I'm into the edges of all this stuff. The real early, high quality, well marked and good looking. But also the real late, cheap, cheesy, unmarked crap. It's the stuff in the middle that doesn't do it for me. See ya at the big Puyallup show. I'll bring it along. Doug

    Hello,

yes of course. I own two of this frogs.

Pressstoff were used more and more sinca ca. 1942... also called "Kunstleder"

Service and Dress frogs were made out of this material.

Here is one... i think the same model / maker as your frog

there also exist belts, binoculars cases, holster, horse tack, straps, cap visors, div. kind of cases, Gunners kid cases, spade cases etc. out of this material.

Today, because of the composition of the material and the passed time, this kind of frogs are hard to find. I think they are very rare, especially in a good shape.

Hi Der Kerl,, nice pick up and always nice to see matching parts. Looks to be in very good condition. I am sure an Ammo pouch will surface in time. Great photos!! very detailed. Larry
