    Default German Bayonets

    Hello,

I inherited my collection of WW2 memorabilia about 5 years ago (some items earlier) from my grandfather. Each piece was directly brought back to the U.S. by my grandfather, at the end of the war.

My grandfather brought back two bayonets. The longer one has a maker's mark (as seen in the pictures). The shorter one does not have any identification markings. Any information on these would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Gaines

I dont see any evidence of police bayonet, looks like normal Parade KS98 bayonets.

Actually, these are not Police but private purchase dress or parade bayonets worn by the Heer (Army).

The shorter length version was worn by NCO's.

Your Grandad had a good eye and brought home some great souvenirs!

    Cheers, Ade.

    Thanks everyone!

Is it common for the shorter one to not have identification markings? I thought that was somewhat strange.

Not all of these were maker marked. Not unusual.

    Cheers, Ade.
