Well, went to the Winston Salem (nc) gunshow today and came back with a couple of goodies the first one is a 1941 marked y strap, and a k98 bayonet. Paid 80 for the y strap and 125 for the bayonet I also got about 15 or 20 cigaret cards for 20 dollars I didn't really count them, I just told him I'd take all of them I also think the bayonet might be tropical because there is a little bit to tan paint left on the scabbard under the frog. Also sorry about side ways pics

I think the scabbard was repainted after WW2.
Screw that holds the scabbard screw who holds bayonet fixators is not in good place, a bayonet frog was either drawn from the scabbard, or is subsequently inserted.

    Hallo,

the scabbard is a (captured) polish one for the Modells Wz.24,28 and 29. Since 1936 until Sept. 1939 the polish army painted the scabbards olive.

    look here:
    Polish made mauser bayonets

After the occupation of Poland the Germans use the captured small arms including bayonets.
In the origin the bayonets out of the WaA contract had matching numbers...
This scabbard is a spare scabbard for a lose or damaged original one. You can find such combinations from time to time.
There is no problem with the originality... IMO a normal combination before 1945.
The frog matches the bayonet, but is in a bad shape...

    Regards
