Help ID bayonet
This was a bit of an impulse buy from my local gunshop. Pretty sure I overpaid by about 2x the value but I got suckered in chatting to the guys in the shop.
Would be nice to know if it is atleast genuine.
From what I can tell it's 18th division from the eastern front.

Sorry for the double pictures , struggling with mobile site and poor internet connection.

bayonet is fine, but I'm very weary of that etching.

The bayonet itself appears to be a genuine (but missing all or nearly all of its original blued finish) early S. 84/98, from E. Pack & Son judging from the "S" code that is not that clear in image. Possibly in a later date scabbard (hard to tell from the imaging) along with a Czech bayonet frog. But unfortunately (as was already mentioned) the etching on the blade is unquestionably postwar. Best Regards, Fred

Greetings Matt,
Check out Bob Coleman's post #6 here Knife Meine Ehre heisst True these post-war etched K98 bayonets come up quite often for folks who wonder if the "good deal" they just got was really a good deal or not.

Bit depressing I just lost £350 . ;-( never using that gunshop ever again. Was the first part of my collection. I have allot of British second world war bayos. Fell for the this is a dead knife b/s. May see if I can take it back with some wild excuse and try get part of what I paid for it.
