    dont know about the frog but the K98 looks fine to me

    yes Andy B is right, the 84/98 is original but post war rework and the frog is made new,army has black frogs and airforce has brown frogs and they allways stampt on the backside with number or maker

    That is basically correct with a couple of modifications. Not all period frogs were marked 100% and here and there you might find one that was not marked. The German Police having service frogs that were a different type of brown color than the Luftwaffe, and black, the black ones sometimes a challenge of where to put them as to the intended user.     Nice looking, but that does look like bluing over rust pitting on the ricasso. In 1942 that wouldn't have passed, so post war re-blue most likely.

    I also believe that the S84 / 98 has been revised.

    The frog is probably this well-known model.

    Looks like it. In that case it was made by the firm of WERSA in Munchen from 1943. They made both black and brown frogs.

    It's possible that they are related, but the one first posted looks like it has what appears to be copper rivets. A look at the back I think needed. Best Regards, Fred
