A friend of mine sold me a k98 a year ago,and while cleaning his place found the bayonet.I unfortunately sold the rifle and am wondering what I'm looking at on this item.Any info you can give would be great.

That is a nice K98 bayonet. Matching numbers, condition looks good, great markings...$200+ in value by my casual observation. But others that have MUCH more knowledge will weigh in I'm sure...
Hi, Tiggi. Welcome to the forum..................!
Savage above, is correct. The price he has quoted is about right, IMO.
Though naturally we'd all like to get things for as cheap as we can,
and he IS your friend, and all.............
Good maker - W.K.C. - Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie.
The date of manufacture will be on the spine
near the crossguard. ( 40 ? )

I agree with what has been said. Also, for the more picky K98 collectors, the date does matter. Im guessing this to be a 1939 but it could be anywhere from a 1938-1940 judging how the WKC is written on the blade. The late war examples have "CVL" written on them representing WKC. Its interesting because most bayonets with WKC written on them have the date stamped on the scabbard as well. Congrats on finding this beauty. If you are going to spend the money, make sure you get a Matching one like this IMO. Oh ya, and welcome to the forum!
