I think the WKC is the beauty of the lot, but it's a tough call, for sure! Very nice!

Hey all, I just picked up a k98 bayonet, it is in very good condition but the numbers are a little puzzling. I wonder if anyone could shed some light on it for me.
The blade is stamped cof44 on one side and 2428 l on the other... which means its a carl eickorn 44 blade right?
The number on the release button (when I depress it I can see the stamp on the rectangle side) is 6996. I took the grips off to clean it and under the grip, the tang is also stamped 6996, with maybe a letter 'C'.
The scabbard is stamped 115 just under the frog.
The frog is nice, it is stamped U. Otto Gehrckens Pinneberg 1942.
I don't know how to get the scabbard out of the frog so I can't check for more markings.
The blade also has 2 markings of the eagle (lines in the shape of the eagle) and WaA519.

So I'm guessing the blade was replaced at some point? And obviously the scabbard and frog were just put together to make a complete set.

    Ideas?
    Thanks
