    Default K98 Frog Information Please

I have what I believe to be original but I am not familiar with the letters before the year, 'SRODE 1942' I also do not know if anyone keeps a list and examples of makers. I did not find one when searching. Google was not much help either. I did find WWI examples by this maker. I have not seen prior.
Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

Thank you Larry, I believe well kept. Passed the smell test and there is some corrosion on the rivets. Stitching looks good and feels pretty stiff. Came on a Bayo. Took a while to remove as I do not like keeping the scabbard in the frog.

Looks like a good unissued one. Franz Brehme, at Walsrode in lower Saxony is a known leather good maker during Third Reich and is in fact still in business. This has the typical mark used in 1942 before the R.B. numbers came in. They must have done large numbers of frogs in 1942 as this date is often found. This one has no strap retainer. Regulations changed in 1939 to discontinue making the strapless type, but was never fully achieved. Perhaps it was not issued due to lack of retainer strap?

That’s a nice Franz Brehme frog John, it would be hard to upgrade that one.

Here are a couple other examples from that maker. The one on the left is an S84/98 frog on an RLM S98/05 and dated 1942, the other is an S98/05 frog dated 1941. Neither one has a retaining strap.

Very interesting to see the S98/05 frog from 1941.
