can somebody please tell me how you can see if an engraving is post war so if i come up to another i know were to look?
thanks for so far
Hi Wehrmachtsman
As you know the bayonet itself is good. These engravings where made by someone living in Belgium (so the story goes). These pop-up regually at shows. Mostly they are K98k bayonets but sometime parade bayonets, like the one you have yourself. So whenever you see a K98k or parade bayonet with the etching SS this, SS that, you can be 99% sure it's not period. The style of the engravings are the big give away...

hi nick
they really ask stupid prices for a k98 bayonet with etching [350euro] they even ruin Heer daggers with those engravings.
thanks for the info
i`ll watch it next time although mine was a free one
got it as a birthday present
Hi Wehrmachtsman
Don't worry, you will learn the hang of it soon enough. I'am sure that in a couple of years you to will recognize what's good and what's not...

Another original piece ruined by fakers trying to rip people off , when you go to the fairs it,s surprising how many seem to be circulating at ridiculous prices

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
