Need opinions on this Police Bayonet...

What do you guys think about this police bayonet? The maker mark is a known variation of the Puma mark (although the photo is blurry), but I want some more opinions about it overall. Is this a good one based on these shots? If it is good, is there anything noteworthy (special/rare) about it that I should know about?

Looks good to me. A standard Rural Police issue.

Any issue markings to the reverse of the crossguard?

Thanks Ade. I'm really not sure. These are the only photos I have. I'll be having a first-hand look this afternoon and if I buy it I'll post some more shots.

One of the things that concerned me about this is the solid emblem on the grip. All of the ones I've seen are cut so the stag grip shows through between the eagle and wreath. Any concerns there?

Hi Darren, I looked at the eagle and it did cross my mind too. But Police bayonets are quite a study in there own right and I would not dimiss it because of this detail. I don't know enough to comment more: it could even be a maker specific item for all I know? One other detail is the leather buffer pad. Cannot say these are commonly found either. But overall I like the look of it.

Hi Dynzer i wouldn't have a problem buying the bayo myself i think its a nice example, but on the price in the uk i think fetch around £400 to £500 hope you can work out the exchange i am lost on that bit

That's a little under $800 so I'll pass on it. Like most collectors, we always try to buy below "retail" whenever possible

Darren i have just had a little look at a couple of sites and they seem to fetch anywhere from $700 to $920, so i think its on the going hope this helps ,
