    Dear All

I am new to this hobby of Bayonet collecting and this is the first of what I hope to be many. Any advice or comments - Good or Bad about my first purchase would be greatly appreciated. I have spent a long time on your site prior to buying this one and have already gained a lot of new knowledge. It appears to be in good condition, but as I have already said this is the first I have ever purchased.

If I have made a bad purchase I would like to know so I do not make the same mistake again.

Thanking you all in advance for any help and or comments.

    Kind regards

    Wolsey

A genuine and above average example. Matching numbers, a good maker, good condition, well done!

    Welcome to the forum.

Thank you Douglas2496 for the quick reply, is there a way that I can identify from making more about it?

I'm not a bayonet specialist but if there's any thing to add I'm sure my forum colleagues will help.

You did very well. There will be a "37" on the spine as well.

    Thank you Gunny
I purchased it from a dealer in the USA, who I had approx a year ago purchased a dress bayonet for my father from. He has provided me with excellent service and I am pleased with it. Any tips from the forum group on how to look after it / clean it. One other question, is there a certain way round it should be placed back into the scabbard?

    Regards Wolsey

    Dear Relicz
You are correct, and there appears to be small eagle makings on the handle, and thank you for your comment.

This appears to be a very friendly forum.

    Regards
    Wolsey

I'd just lightly oil the blade making sure you keep it off the wooden grips and keep it in a dry place. There is a certain way to put the bayonet in the scabbard but i can't remember off hand!...

Edit, i think the correct way is how you have it in the photo with the serial numbers lining up!...
